Today we will be discussing another mooc platform known as Udacity.

Udacity is an American educational organization founded by Sebastian Thrun, David Stavens, and Mike Sokolsky.

Udacity was formed from a Stanford University Experiment in which the founders offered an online course in Artificial Intelligence for free to anyone. The result was 160000 students enrolled from 190 countries worldwide; this development led to the birth of Udacity.

Udacity partners with over 200 industry experts to provide online courses, over 100,000 graduations, and partners with over 100 enterprise customers worldwide. Potential students are offered free and paid online courses.

This platform specializes in providing her students Digital skills, e.g., Programming, Artificial Intelligence,  Business, Autonomous Systems, Cloud Computing. An online program on this platform takes between 3 – 6 months at   5 – 10 hours a week. The structure is towards project-based active learning. Students work on real-world projects and other hands-on exercises that industry experts assess.

Mentors are allocated to students as they enroll in a course. Mentors are available to students for the full duration of the program. Students meet their mentors twice weekly, and guidance is given on challenging concepts. ‘Mentors’ use is a great benefit for students on this platform as students work closely with industry experts in their chosen field of study. At the end of the course, students get an online credential called a Nanodegree.

A Nanodegree is an online course of study which a student can complete in less than 12 months. Nanodegrees are online project and skills-based educational credential programs. Nanodegrees are shareable certificates you can share with potential employers, as they are valued by industry leaders, e.g., Google, Facebook, and SalesForce. Students with Nanodegrees have gained employment with fortune 500 companies, e.g., AT&T, Facebook, Google, Amazon.
